World Digital Library Launched
Launch of the World Digital Library
Yesterday was the launch of the World Digital Library–a joint project between the Library of Congress and UNESCO which creates an “easily-accessible collection of the world’s cultural riches that would tell the stories and highlight the achievements of all countries and cultures.” The library currently holds material in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese, with digital images of culturally significant material from all over the world, including manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings. All images are available for download for educational purposes, and the quality of the downloads very high. http://www.wdl.org/en/
